Time To Say Farewell...

Dear Customers and Challenge Participants,

The time has come for me to close down Scrapbook Kits and move on. I will not be adding any new stock or kits to the store. I will leave the store open for another 5 weeks, in case anyone wants to stock up with kits before I close down permanently. https://scrapbookkits.com.au/index.php?route=common/home

But I will leave you with a present. All class kits and limited edition kits (including Christmas kits) will be 40% off until I close the doors. Just use the voucher code "FAREWELL" when you make your order. (Designer Kits are excluded). One voucher per customer. Voucher valid until 2nd December 2012.

For anyone wishing to purchase kits, pre-made layouts, or the occasional class kit in the future, I will be selling these items in my Etsy store (Jules And Bling) starting next year. http://www.etsy.com/shop/JulesAndBling

And for anyone who is looking for a scrap challenge, I will post a sketch and colour inspiration on the 1st of the month, on my blog (Jules The Bling Princess). This will commence in November, and every one is welcome to join in the fun: http://julestheblingprincess.blogspot.com.au/

Thank-you for all of your support in the last 18 months. It is truly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Julianne

October Designer Kit With Natalie Elphinstone...

I am so excited to introduce our October designer - the awesome, and very talented Natalie Elphinstone. (Natalie has just been accepted onto the Jenni Bowlin Ambassador Team - congrats Natalie!).

This is the October Designer Kit that I sent to Natalie. And oh boy, didn't she have some fun with this.
If you would like to purchase this kit, you can find it online in our Scrapbook Kits store
This kit is not only packed full of beautiful goodies, but it also comes with an EXCLUSIVE, never before seen sketch from Scrapbook Kits, and two colour palette images for extra fun and inspiration.

GUEST DT PROFILE QUESTIONS:

1. Husband? Children? Pets?
I'm blessed to be married to a very understanding supportive husband who's a Stay-At-Home-Dad. He takes care of our two beautiful girls aged 6 and 2 whilst I work full-time, and then allows me time to create as my way of relaxing. We're fast approaching our 10-year wedding anniversary, and I wouldn't be able to do all that I do without him.
Oh, and as far as pets are concerned... we've got one surviving Sea Monkey ;-)

2. Do you have your own scraproom? Describe where you scrap, or supply a photo.

I'm a messy scrapper with an organised Scrap Room (at least, that's what I call it - my husband still tries to maintain that it's called the Study.) He has his computers on one side and I have my Scrap Table on the other. Mine faces a big window where I can see the girls if they're playing outside, and it lets in loads of natural light. All my go-to supplies are arranged in bookshelves where I can reach them easily.

3. How long have you been scrapping?

When my eldest was born I bought some basic scrap supplies intending to make an album - just because I thought that's what all new mothers did! But it took a full year before I finally touched them, and I really had to force myself through that first album. But somewhere along the line I discovered the world of manufacturers, and designers and blogs and whole shops dedicated to scrapbooking. I bought up every new line Kaisercraft released! And the rest as they say is history.
Oh yeah.. so the answer is 5 years!

4. Favourite colour or colour combination? Least favourite colour to scrap with?

Oh good question! But I don't know the answer!
I tend not to think in colour combos because I'm not very good at it :-) That's why I tend to stick to designing within one manufacturer, or with a kit where someone has already planned it all for me already. I'm equally at home with 'modern vintage' colours like in this current kit, or with the 'bold and bright' - and I'm just loving the latest trend of adding a splash of neon colours!

5. Do you have a dream team that you would like to be on?

My first love and aspiration for a Design Team was Sassafras. I was lucky enough to be featured on their blog a couple of times, but then unfortunately they stopped manufacturing. As for right now, whilst it's still on my Bucket List to design for one of the major manufacturers, I think it's also awesome to design for shops and kit-clubs because then you get to play with a huge variety of supplies.

6. Do you use paper or cardstock for your layout base?

Well both really! What you'll notice about all my pages is that they feature a border of a contrasting colour around the edges. What I usually do is start off with a fairly neutral patterned paper and trim down the edges a smidge and then mount that on a piece of cardstock that picks up one of the other colours in my layout. Then I sew it in place, which adds some lovely details without much effort - and it also means all my layouts are pretty strong and sturdy.

7. Black, white, or kraft?

None! I hoard piles of Vanilla cardstock!

8. Favourite scrapper? Who inspires you?

There's no way I could only list just one scrapper here. I've got hundreds in my Google Reader! C'mon!!
On the Aussie homefront I really admire Georgia Heald, Ebony van der Starre, Em Stafrace, Louise Nelson, Gina Rogers and Leeann Pearce (amongst others).
Whilst internationally I'm inspired by Megan Klauer, Jill Sprott, Sasha Farina, Geralyn Sy, Marcy Penner, Lilith Eeckles and all the girls at I {lowe} Scrap.

9. Favourite technique? Least favourite?

I'm a mist and paint and ink kind of girl. Most of my pages involve one or more of the wet mediums - even if it's just a sprinkle of mist droplets at the end.
Least favourite technique? Um... anything that involves too much effort! Distressing edges, inking things, fussy cutting.... oh and definately I do not HAND SEW!!

10. Favourite manufacturer? Favourite product?

Does the Silhouette count as my favourite product? You can do just about anything with it - it's truly turned my scrappy world upside down :-)
My favourite manufacturers would include the aforementioned Sassafras, Studio Calico, Jenni Bowlin, October Afternoon and Crate Paper.

Now, would you like to see the wonderful creations that Natalie has made with the October Designer Kit?
You are in for a treat!!!

You Are My Sun...
I just love the title of this layout, not to mention the fun way Natalie has used the envelope.

Close up of the title.

Remember This
Natalie has created this layout using the EXCLUSIVE Scrapbook Kits sketch
(which only comes with the October Designer Kit).

A close-up of Natalie's super cool envelope.

Imagination.
Natalie uses some of the best quotes on her layouts, and this one is no exception.
What a beautiful way to store memories of your children's artwork.

A close up of the flowers and drawn images.

And for all those card lovers out there, have a look at these! They are just gorgeous!!!
And Natalie did not one, but two cards to share with us.
How cute is this with the tag and flowers?

Thank-you Natalie for sharing your beautiful projects with us.
They are amazing, and you have provided so much inspiration.
Don't forget, the October Designer Kit can be purchased online in our Scrapbook Kits store

The year is flying past, and it's October already! Time to put up the new challenges for this month...

Let's start with the October Inspiration Challenge. How do you like this picture (from Photo Card Boutique via Pinterest) for inspiration? Julianne McKenna de Lumen - My Little Psycho Kitty

Doris Widder - Autumn Card

Kim Kendell - Bird Song

Lisa Kamphuis - The Boys

Doily flower centre

Huge hello to everyone. Spring has finally arrived here in Australia, thank goodness. And we have had some lovely sunshine so far. I can't wait for summer though. I though I would show you how to do something a little different with a paper doily. I have created this doily flower centre when I was working on my September Kit.

It is super easy to make, and I really love the 3D effect it gives a plain paper flower.

First cut out the solid circle centre of a paper doily. Then cut through the scallop piece so that it has two ends.

At small intervals pleat the doily starting at one and end and go all the way to the other end. It should naturally keep a circle shape.

Glue the doily flower centre in the centre of a larger flower, and just reposition the doily shape so it keeps a circular shape. How easy is that.

September Designer Kit And Guiseppa Gubler...

To celebrate the arrival of Spring, I have created the September Designer Kit using the the "Time For Spring" range of papers from Fancy Pants. And I hope you are ready for some serious inspiration, because this month's designer is about to "knock your socks off" with her awesome layouts and cards.

There are very limited numbers available in the store. Just click here to purchase.

Firstly, let's get to know our September Designer a little better.
Introducing the amazingly talented, international designer, Guiseppa Gubler. I took this opportunity to ask Guiseppa some questions about her life and scrapping addicition, and here are her answers.

1. Husband? Children? Pets?
I have been married to my sweet husband Sam for 15 years.  We have 3 children; Braden 16, Janica 14 and our Angel Sterling who passed away seven years ago from "The Bubble Boy Disease".

2. Do you have your own scraproom?  Describe where you scrap or supply a photo.
I currently share a space with my husband because he works from home.  He would tell you he has a tiny shelf in the closet and I have the rest. Yes, I take up most of the space in the office/scrapbook room, but a girl needs her space for all her scrappy goodies.

3. How long have you been scrapping?
I started scrapbooking in 1996 when I was pregnant with my oldest son.  So, I guess that would be 16 years.  Wow...the industry has changed a lot since then.

4. Favorite color or color combination?  Least favorite color to scrap with?
I love blues and greens.  When buying or just picking out the papers and embellishments I want to use on a project...I tend to gravitate towards the blues and greens.  I am not a huge fan of purple.  Rarely and I mean rarely have I ever scrapped with it.  It would be hard for you to find a purple piece of patterned paper in my stash.

5. Do you have a dream team you would like to be on?
There are several manufacturers I love, but I think along with many scrappers out there...Prima would be my pick.  I love all of the gorgeous flowers, pearls, crystals and embellishments.

6. Do you use paper or cardstock for you layout base?
I used to use a lot of cardstock, but recently I have been using more patterned paper.

7. Black, white or craft?
I would have to say white.  I love matting my photos in white and using it for journaling.  It works for me because it stands out.

8. Favorite scrapper?  Who inspires you?
Wow...there are so many.  You should see my blog list.  Right now, I am really in love with Jaime Warren.  I love how she uses her embellishments, whole page and how she layers.  Her layouts always have appeal to me and I love how they flow.

9. Favorite technique? Least favorite?
If using foam adhesive to add dimension to my projects is a technique...than that's it!  I love layers and dimension. I don't create without foam adhesive.  In fact, I should have taken out stock in it!  I really don't have a least favorite.  I love to dip into all kinds of things...go exploring.

10. Favorite manufacturer?  Favorite product?
Besides the manufacturers that I design for, (GCD Studios, Imaginisce, Authentique and Simple Stories and Prima...my dream team to be on one day) I would have to say My Minds Eye.  I love the quality of the paper and the designs are always something I know I would use.  I love the fact that their collections are all so different.

Now for the exciting bit. I gave Guiseppa one of the September Kits and said "have fun and play!". Do you want to see what she created with this kit? Not only did Guiseppa create two layouts to inspire you, but she also created two gorgeous, fun cards as well.
Lets' have a look at Guiseppa's projects, and a few close-ups photographs...

Dirty Camping FaceEven though Kenzie's cute little face is so dirty...I wanted to make this layout girly.  I framed one of her pictures using some ribbon.  Since this ribbon has ruffles,  it gave the this framed look dimension.

Live For TodayI love creating clusters of embellishments.  I do this using foam adhesive to create layers and dimension.  As you can see on this layout I have a cluster near the title and one on the bottom by the journaling.

I Love You Card:I love cards that surprise me and are different.  This one is a pocket card with a sweet sentiment inside.

Friend CardHere is another card that is unique.  It is called a nesting card and it opens up one door at a time to reveal the sentiment inside.

So who's ready to jump into Spring with all this amazing inspiration? I don't know about you, but I can't wait to try my hand at recreating Guiseppa's cards.
(I'm not a card maker so this will be my challenge for the month, lol!)
A big thank-you to Guiseppa for sharing her truly inspirational projects with us.
