TWIDDLEYBITZ BLOG CANDY!!

Hi everyone

Today I am sharing with you the amazing Twiddleybitz and what you can do with them and how fantastic they look on or off the page.

So many available, from butterflies to fantastic off the page projects.

With Mother's Day just around the corner, I thought I would make the lovely Twiddleybitz Jewel Box.

the Jewel box comes as a flat pack, very easy to put together, just follow the notches in the wood and glue. you may want to paint the pieces first before gluing together.

All I did was paint it black, and using lots of Prima bling I used glue and adhered into place on the front of the box and also in the lid piece (this I did prior to putting together, makes it a little easier). I then used a soft metallic pink to go around the scroll edge and the frame on top, then adhered the frame. Used 2 Petaloo flowers of different sizes and it's done.

What a lovely gift for Mum this Mother's Day right?

now lets take a look at what some of the DT have done with Twiddleybitz

Tina has used the new release Chair & Umbrella and created this gorgeous frame

and just have a look at what Lisa has done with the birdcage, isn't it beautiful?

and the Fantasy Frame shadow box by Ann, how stunning is this?

another gorgeous off the page using Twiddleybitz by Lisa

and now for a few on the page, just take a look at what Leah created, an absolutely amazing layout using all the new release Steam Punk Gears and Cogs

and Irit has used the beautiful new release Twiddleybitz Arched Gate with Fence on her gorgeous layout below.

so there you have it, so many beautiful products on the page and off and some fantastic gift ideas for Mother's Day which is only around the corner on May 8.

Now for the Blog Candy

All you have to do to be in the running to win a lovely selection of Twiddleybitz is become a follower of our blog, leave a comment in this post and share this with your friends on your blog.

and this is what you could win!!

But wait there's more!!

no I am not throwing in any steak knives LOL!!

but with Mother's Day coming up and my birthday being on Mother's Day I thought I would offer you an extra bonus!!

Share with us a layout, card or Off the Page that you have done using Twiddleybitz (must include Twiddleybitz to be in the running), link your blog to Mr Linky below and you could win an additional $20 voucher to spend in the store on anything you like, that's on top of the prize shown above!!

So was that worth waiting for?

a random winner will be drawn on 9th May!!

so if you don't already have any Twiddleybitz, head on over to the shop, grab something and get working, can't wait to see what you create.

Be sure to check out all the fabulous Twiddleybitz in the store here

Another masking technique - for boys!!!

As promised I have another masking technique but this time for a boys layout.

I had some chipboard packaging from some really old product I had in my stash and it looked to me like brickwork!! Which gave me a cool idea - I could use it as a mask and give me a bricked background for one of the boys layouts

I then used a brown coloured glimmer mist ( cant remember which one !) and just lightly sprayed over this chipboard

And then once you lift the chipboard - look at the cool effect you end up with

And here is the layout I created with this background = perfect for a preteen boy

So go and have some fun with masks - Ness has some VERY cool ones instore - HERE!!!

You have to love a good mask!!!

I love masks and I have a few and I love the ones that Ness has instore .

I thought I might show you a couple of layouts I have done using masking techniques. Being a glimmermist junkie - its good that I use masks I think!!! Supports the habit!!

They are so easy to use and create such great effects. Here is the first
Here are the items I used

So the first thing you need to do is lay your mask down on the cardstock

They are slightly tacky so they stay where you place them

Take your selected medium and spray - use a well ventilated area and its even a good idea to have a box to catch the excess spray!!

and here is the effect it will leave you with

And here is the layout I did with this gorgeous background

I hope you like this technique and Ill be back again with another masking technique for a boy layout!!!

In the meantime check out the fabulous masks Ness has in store

Going Shabby Chic using Spray Mists

I love using chipboard because there are so many ways you can decorate it for your projects. I was trying to achieve a shabby chic look for some chipboard album pieces by Maya Road and I came up with this method. For the supplies you'll need: chipboard pieces (the thicker the better - I used a Maya Road album); gesso; Tim Holtz clear rock candy crackle paint; mist (I used Maya mist in turquoise); paintbrush.

Paint all the pieces with a light coat of gesso and let it dry - this doesn't take long at all - maybe five minutes. It doesn't have to be covered perfectly - just try to get it even.

Next apply the clear crackle paint thickly all over the pieces and let dry completely. This will take a while - maybe 30 minutes - or you can use your heat gun to speed things up.

This is what it should look like after it's dry.

Next spray lightly with your mist.

Then take a paper towel and rub it all over your piece until it's covered to your liking.

This is how mine turned out...

And this is what it looks like after I decorated it.

The possibilities and colors are endless for this - have fun!!

A quick Mothers Day card using lovely Prima

I love making my Mum and my Mum in law their Mothers Day cards - so I have a  fairly  easy card  to show you today ( I know you have a few weeks to  get this done in time for Mums day!)
I have used the gorgeous Prima  papers - Fairy flora - I LOVE these papers and Ness has them instore HERE

The papers are so pretty you  dont need to do too much.

I have added some  pretty  died  doily lace  but you could use any lace you like.  I had a small section of leftover  bling  fourish so I added that and some  pretty delicate flowers and a heart.

Final touch  - MUM  in small letters -  and you are done!!!

Too easy - My Mum keeps tham all on a shelf and has all the cards I have made for her for about the last  five years!  I think she will like this one too!!

A new source for inspiration

I just love browsing junkmail and magazine adds, but not for the reasons most people do ,, I am looking for inspiration.
As you may know , ads are designed by people who are specially trained to use color and layout to catch the eye and get your attention, so what better place to get inspiration?!
Like this fashion bug ad,,Now yes, ladies I KNOW the dress is cute, and those shoes are just B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!! But really,, TRY to look past that and see the bigger picture....

The first thing I noticed was the color scheme. tan/blue/green and just a touch of white.I saw this ad and I said to my self,"Self...I adore these colors together!!"
The second thing I noticed was the wall she is leaning on. and I said to my self,, "self that is so cool! you can do that!!" And guess what,it was easier than I thought! And YOU my scrappy readers can do it too!All I did was grab a piece of craft colored cardstock and a rag, and dab on cream/tan/brown paint! yep thats it... thats all.. and just look how cool it looks!
The next thing I liked was the title, the dark blue swatch of paint with the white letters on top, so cool and eye catching!!
So here is my version with the yummy-est parts ""lifted"" from the fashion bug ad.

So what do ya think?
I challenge you to go out there in advertisement land and find something you like, and get inspiration from it,,, then go make something awesome!!
thanks for reading!
